The Stronger Smarter Leadership Program

The Stronger Smarter Leadership Program aims to challenge and support school and community leaders in their pursuit of educational excellence for all students by providing learning opportunities to:

  • Enhance their leadership capacity to achieve school transformation
  • Challenge their assumptions about school culture and practices and
  • Document their learning and contribute to the critical mass of educational leaders enabling transformational change in educational outcomes for Indigenous students.

The Stronger Smarter Leadership Program is a minimum 12-month commitment and requires commitment to two face-to-face forums and all program components:

  • *Phase 1: Stronger Smarter leadership development forum focusing on enhancing collaborative and cultural competence and leadership capacity to facilitate change, engage Indigenous community and transform learning contexts.
  • Phase 2: Taking the message back: workplace engagement and cultural planning phase, focusing on discussions, consultation and planning.
  • *Phase 3: Leadership for School Transformation forum: workplace challenges and school transformation plans are shared, reviewed and discussed by participants and the Stronger Smarter team.
  • Phase 4: Transforming workplaces implementation, online discussion and forums supporting school transformation.
  • Phase 5: Acknowledging and celebrating learning case study and/or action research on school transformation plans and positive student outcomes.

Phases 1 and 3 are face-to-face forums that require participants to travel to Brisbane, Queensland. The first phase is a 6 day residential program held in Cherbourg, south east Queensland. For more information see: http://rationshed.com.au

2012 National Stronger Smarter Leadership Programs

In 2012 there will be five national Stronger Smarter Leadership Programs commencing at different times throughout the year.

If you wish to participate, you must be able to attend the first forum and the follow up workshop for the program of your choice.

SSLP program fees

The program cost is $7,170 per person.

The generous support of the Telstra Foundation and the Sidney Myer Fund provides significant funding for the program and subsidises the program cost so that in 2012 the subsidised program fee is $3,000 per person (plus GST).

Please note, the program fee does not cover your relief or replacement costs for days away from school or workplace.

When your application is approved you will be provided with details of QUT PAY which provides a number of payment options.

Travel costs

The fee does not include travel to and from Brisbane for the two forums; you are responsible for organising your travel to and from Brisbane for these sessions.

The Institute organises travel from Brisbane to Cherbourg for the first forum and return travel to Brisbane at the end of the first forum. Travel is also organised from Brisbane airport to the venue for the follow up forum.

Accommodation and meals

Accommodation and meals for both forums are included in the fee and organised by the Institute. The Stronger Smarter Institute endeavours to meet dietary requirements and any special needs, please be sure to inform us about your requirements when you apply.

Cancellation fee

Please note: once your application is accepted, a cancellation fee will be charged if you cancel within 14 days of the start of the first forum.
