Chris Sarra has had an extensive career in education. His passion has been the pursuit of more positive and productive educational outcomes for Indigenous children. Chris is now the Executive Director of the Indigenous Education Leadership Institute which is making an impact in Indigenous Education through engagement with principals, teachers, community leaders and Government.

Sharon began her career as a primary teacher. More recently she worked on a major review of Aboriginal education in NSW and managed initiatives to improve Indigenous student outcomes. In collaboration with the Co-ordinators Teaching and Community Leadership, Sharon is responsible for organising the Institute's leadership programs and supporting participants.
Peter has had extensive corporate, consulting and small business experience in a 35 year career. His experience has been gained in retail, airline, hospitality and tourism industries at all operating levels.
Ray has worked in education for over 35 years at state, national and international levels. Since 1996 he has been as an independent consultant focusing on strategic planning and evaluation, school leadership, curriculum renewal and teacher development. He has extensive experience in schooling reform, including in many Indigenous communities.
John Davis is a Warra man who has extensive experience in education. He is a senior teacher who has worked in a range of roles in school and university specializing in Indigenous education. Community, to John, is integral to transformational leadership. As a coordinator John is excited at the prospect of working with and building teams of Teacher and Community leadership around the country.
Scott is a Mithaka man from far western Queensland. He has over twelve years experience in consulting with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organisations, service providers and communities. He has facilitated several Indigenous Leadership and Governance, cultural competence programs and projects and conducted extensive consultations throughout Australia.
David has lived and worked on remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory in leadership and teaching positions for much of the past ten years. David’s expertise is in inter-cultural capacity building. This includes innovation and success in community engagement, cultural competence, strategic and governance planning, leadership development, and professional development and training for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people both within and outside Australia.
Mark Newman has a background in Film and Television, as a Producer, Writer and Director in South Africa, France, the UK and Australia. He has also lectured extensively in media production. Since 2002 Mark has been working in projects to upgrade digital skills in schools and community in Cherbourg, Woorabinda and Palm Island.
Anne Wilson has worked as an Administrator at QUT for more than 12 years in the Education Faculty. Her expertise lies in the areas of customer service and administrative duties and finance. Joining the Institute has given Anne the opportunity to assist in the furtherance of better education for Indigenous children in our country.
Michal Purcell is currently the Executive Secretary for the Execurive Director of the Indigenous Education Leadership Institute, based in Cherbourg. Previously Michal was a highly valued Administration Officer for Cherbourg State School with Dr Chris Sarra.
Adam is a Goempul & Nunukul man from beautiful North Stradbroke Island in SEQ. Adam comes from a Marketing and Communication background and has worked in various capacities within the arts, major water utilities and education. Adam is responsible for expanding, marketing and developing the brand of the Institute at a national and international level.
Fred Cobbo is a member of a well known Cherbourg family and a descendent of the Wakka Wakka people of the South Burnett region of South-East Queensland. He is currently employed by Education Queensland in partnership with the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council, to work as a research officer for the Indigenous Education Leadership Institute.
Sarra has joined the Institute as an Administrative Assistant. She is currently studying a Certificate III in Business through TAFE and completing grade 12 through the Brisbane School of Distance Education. Sarra is a determined and highly efficient young worker who is a great asset to the Institute.
